Hi there, I'm Zoë. For as long as I can remember, I've always had a love of photography. I started a business when I was 14, and my passion has grown from years of documenting family camping trips with a point and shoot to now capturing senior photos, engagements, concerts, families, events, local shops, and foreign landscapes. The work that's on this site, and the countless other images that I've been able to create are an incredibly important part of who I am. I hope that in wandering through here you've found something that makes you think, or smile, or (hopefully) a few things that really caught your eye.
I grew up in Arapaho country, on Turtle Island, but have had the opportunity to travel much of the globe. It has always been abundantly clear to me how enriching travel is. I know that sounds cliche, but I believe that going to unfamiliar places is oftentimes the most educational experience someone can have. Traveling teaches you how to see. It's nearly impossible to accept stories and stereotypes that have been fed to you when compared to real life experiences. When you go somewhere you don't necessarily belong, you learn to see things differently. Your experiences will shape you, and guide you, and open your mind up to the possibility that the world can be seen from billions of different angles.
At this point you might be wondering what this has to do with anything in particular, with art or photography or this business that I'm trying to create. But it is at the center of everything. I am who I am because of the places I have gone and the people I have met. The artwork I create is my own attempt to communicate my experiences, to share my version of the human condition in the language that makes sense to me.
I want to do more than sell prints and capture moments in other people's lives (although the prints on this site are for sale and I am currently booking for events in the Bay Area, my email is above and to the right, feel free to help out a broke college student!!). I want to encourage people to be more open minded, and to go somewhere, literally anywhere they can. Start a dialogue with someone you don't think you could possibly get along with and try to find something you have in common. I promise you'll find a lot.
Anyways, this is starting to get long and remind me of instagram posts I make fun of. I'm currently in my last year of undergrad at the University of California. I hope to continue traveling my whole life, maybe work as a writer or a photojournalist and share other people's stories, or perhaps do something completely different. I guess you'll find out.
